The objectives of the Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology are multi-fold and include:
- Facilitating the exchange of ideas and knowledge among scientists and technologists
- Promoting the popularization, understanding, and appreciation of the role of science and technology in human development and welfare, particularly within the Republic of Mauritius and the surrounding region;
- Fostering creativity in science and technology in collaboration with other relevant organizations, to enhance the professional development of Academy members;
- Encouraging interdisciplinary studies that shed light on the societal and economic implications of science and technology;
- Establishing and maintaining connections with national, regional, and international organizations that share similar science and technology objectives
- Recognizing academic excellence in Science and technology through awards, prizes, honours, and credits
- Cultivating ethical standards in scientific research;
- Supporting the dissemination of scientific knowledge through public activities and other means;
- Undertaking such actions in line with the Statutes of MAST and consistent with its mission.
