Honorary Fellows

The Managing Committee of the Academy appoints eminent persons selected locally or overseas, as Honorary Fellows of the Academy with the aim that they shall contribute towards the overall promotion of the Academy.

Multi-fold Objectives

MAST promotes the popularization, understanding, and appreciation of the role of science and technology in human development and welfare, particularly within the Republic of Mauritius and the surrounding region.

Established in 2007, the Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded by eminent scientists. Its mission is to discuss scientific, technological, and innovation-related matters, including social sciences. Functioning as an independent think-tank, the Academy provides advice to the government, the private sector, and the general public. Its overarching vision is to foster a society that harmonizes with nature by appropriately applying science and technology.

MAST has a current membership of 39, comprising Life Members, Fellows, Members, and Associate Members. They contribute to the Academy by participating in discussion groups, publishing and presenting papers at workshops on a wide range of topics.
